Intermission sits within a series of socially engaged work which Riptide will create over the next 5 years.

Each of the projects will focus on a different element of life which we have lost connection with, the series is inspired by Johan Hari’s book by the same title.

Project Intimacy was the beginning of this series and focuses on reforming connections with strangers. It was created based on scientific research into loneliness and connection.

Whilst Project Intimacy is about connection with others, Intermission is about reconnecting with yourself. It is rooted in the ancient teachings of meditation, mindfulness and ritual, and infuses modern scientific research about connection.

Future projects will look at topics such as our connection with nature and rural landscapes, and our connection with religion and communities.
