How therapeutic and transformative can performance truly be?

This is the question we are attempting to answer with our next project INTERMISSION.

We are excited to offer a range of different placements for our next immersive experience. It is important that we offer this as a platform for current and recent graduates - as support to gain industry experience. This is something we never got ourselves.

The placements are a way to gain professional experience, with no prior experience necessary. Many of our placements also go on to work with us and become part of the Riptide team.

Intermission will be a large-scale, one-on-one immersive performance happening in Leeds. In this ambitious new project, we are looking to re-invent what immersive theatre looks and feels like, for an audience and for performers. The content of the performance will centre around the audience members going through it.
Each of the encounters will explore a different area of their life (family, career, memory, future desires). With the ambition that they will walk out having reflected on how they are living their life and the choices they are making.

Riptide operates an Equal Opportunities Policy and welcomes interest in the role from people of all backgrounds, particularly those from BAME, LGBTQI+, working-class backgrounds and those with disabilities (visible or not) currently under-represented in our sector.

Throughout the rehearsal process, there will be integrated workshops led by professionals in the health and wellbeing sector (therapy, life coaches, massage), this is to give performers clarity and security when performing in this context.
